Amapola Creek Vineyards consists of 100 acres along the sun-washed western slope of the Mayacamas Mountains adjacent to the highly-acclaimed Monte Rosso Vineyard. These red, iron-oxide soils have yielded superb wines for well over a century. Founded by the renowned winemaster Richard Arrowood and now part of the B. Wise Estate, we are working with master vineyardist Phil Coturri to replant 25 acres as organically-certified estate vines.

About the 2021 Amapola Creek Petite Sirah:
The Petite Sirah from the upper slopes of Moon Mountain is defined by its dramatic terroir; the rocky volcanic soils stress the vines, yielding fruit of remarkable concentration and intensity. Cooling evening winds drifting up from the San Pablo Bay extend the growing season, allowing the grapes to retain freshness and vibrant acidity. At the same time, the elevated position bathes the clusters in abundant sunlight, producing dark, deeply flavored berries. What distinguishes this wine is its combination of power and poise. The tannins are bold yet polished, providing structure without harshness, while the bright acidity lifts the dense core of blackberry, plum, and spice. The result is a Petite Sirah of uncommon finesse and balancing richness.
